Hi, Iām Simran- born in Dubai and raised in Bangalore, currently teaching dance in Reading (just outside London), and basically living my dream one class at a time š
Back in 2021, I was desperate to dance, learn, and grow- but quickly realised there were zero workshops happening in Bangalore. So I took matters into my own hands. I started travelling to Mumbai for classes, convincing artists to come down south, and ended up organising entire tours and workshops for them. Thatās how my journey as a dance-curator-turned-organiser began.
Dancing has always been my safe space, but I come with a sales and marketing hat too- I worked at Zomato in India and later pursued my Masterās in Marketing from the University of Warwick. Events and experiences have always followed me, and combining them with my love for dance? Best combo ever.
At heart though, Iāll always be a student. And thatās what The Pataka Project is all about- a space for the student community, for people to value training and foundations while still having a blast. Whether you’re here to grow, vibe, or both, welcomeĀ toĀ theĀ madness!
Hi,Ā I’m Yash
Born in Mumbai, raised in Bangalore, and now bringing my passion for dance to Londonš„
My dance journey began in the most authentic way, just moving to the rhythm in my apartment as a kid. What started as pure joy evolved into a 12-year adventure spanning Hip Hop, Contemporary, and Bollywood styles. From those living room sessions to training with Shiamak, and now building a dance community in London, every step has been transformative.
By day, I’m a numbers guy with a Master’s in Finance and Accounting from Imperial College London, currently joining EY’s Fintech Division. But when the spreadsheets close, the music takes over. This balance between analytical thinking and creative expression is exactly what drives The Pataka Project forward.
Dance has always been my escape, a space where reality fades, my mind clears, and pure happiness takes center stage. It’s this personal connection that fuels my vision: creating a platform where dancers grow together, where students master not just techniques but understand the stories behind every movement.
The Pataka Project is more than a business venture for me, it’s about bridging the gap between Indian dance artists and the UK scene, building a community that celebrates both technical excellence and the sheer joy of movement.
Whether you’re here to learn, perform, or simply find your own escape through dance, welcome to our fire. Let’s ignite something incredibleĀ together.
